Ms. Alisa Buchman graduated as a chemist in 1973, and received her M.Sc degree in Materials Engineering in 1977 from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. During 1973-81 she worked on research projects at the Technion. She joined Rafael, Armament Development Authority, in 1982 where she worked in research and development in the Materials and Processes Department as Head of Adhesion and NDT section. During the years 1987-88 she spent a sabbatical as a visiting scientist at the University of Akron, USA in the area of thermoplastic composites. During the years 1995-96 she spent a sabbatical in the Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA as a visiting professor conducting a research program in NASA Langley Research Center in the field of C/C composites. During the year 2002 she spent a sabbatical in CSIRO in Melbourne, Australia as a visiting professor conducting a research in the field of microwave curing of polymers for concrete. During the year 2005 she spent a sabbatical in IFAM (Fraunhofer Inst.) in Bremen, Germany as a visiting professor conducting a research in the field of Incorporation of Nano-particles in Adhesives.
Ms. Buchman published over 140 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, 4 chapters in books and has 9 patents. Currently she is serving as CTO of MMA TECH Ltd. a Biomaterials start-up company and as an advisor to companies in adhesion, failure analysis and aging. She specializes in aging of polymers, adhesive characterization and formulation, novel surface treatment, failure analysis and micro/nano-bonding.
Ms. Buchman is an expert reviewer for the J. of Adhesion, J. of adhesives and Adherends and an expert examiner for the EU projects (FP7 and Horizon 2020) since 2008.
